THOUGHTS
I think a lot, I can't help it. You'll find out soon
enough.
(normally when doing something mundane)
Iron bar boy
This was written, with the thought of a music video script. The lack of dialogue makes it purely visual allowing the music consume the viewer. I can also easily visualise the situation too.
A boy wakes, and rubs eyes,
walks to bathroom, looks in the mirror,
washes under the shower, clothes up,
walks downstairs, eats alone,
steps out of the door and climbs across a car bonnet,
turns into a street, a street desolate and void of people,
walks into a shop, collects bread and milk and leaves without paying,
paces towards the pier, steps out to a point of comfort and sits,
where he begins feeding the pigeons and seagulls the bread,
then after watching the clouds and the birds,
he gets up to walk back, passing a row of cars,
he finds a bar and smashes the side window of each as he walks,
he faces front and doesn’t even flinch with each break of the cars glass,
his pace quickens, he’s now running and smashing everything he can see,
causing as much destruction as possible, windows signs,
doors, bins, walls, stalls, everything gets a whacking as he runs,
motorbikes are pushed over, café tables are flipped,
the destruction builds to an awesome spectacle of mammoth proportions,
completely fantasy in scale, incredible and powerful,
almost alien, like all the power of mother nature,
he’s expressionless and focussed, the vision blurs,
the city wobbles and shudders as everything behind the boy explodes in ruins from the path he walked.
Suddenly the boy stops, chaos behind him, subsides,
the smoke clears and the dust settles from around his face,
he squats down to the ground, pushes his palms out,
placing them on the floor he lies flat on his belly,
tilting his head to one side, closing one eye,
he stretches out one hand and pushes it into a pile of rubbish,
and gently pulls out a leather bound box, he stands up,
dusts it off and examines it curiously,
the latch is unlocked and the lid is lifted up,
as he peers inside his eyes open and a huge grin appears on his face,
a look of relief shows, his other hand drops the metal bar
that caused so much destruction
and he steps forward with his foot,
the walk begins, this time a calm and slightly bemused gaze
at the devastation behind him yet relieved with the new discovery held tightly in hand,
The destruction is over.
The boy walks away in to the distance,
blurring completely from view and then fading out.
